Alyce (Alyce-kay)'s Story
Life
Our family moved to Sweetwater, Tennessee in 2003 and we love it! The pace of life is much slower than California, the people are ever-so-friendly here, porches are a lovely idea, and the hills & trees are breath-taking. We're nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains where we get 58 inches of rain annually, mostly in the Spring and Summer.
I got my B.A. in Religious Studies from Westmont College in Santa Barbara in 1983.
Got married and settled down to have five children, whom I homeschooled. During that time, I wrote/published curriculum, spoke at conferences, and founded a Bible tournament program. I'm now remarried, with only 2 still in the nest. Currently (October, 2008), I'm working as a medical transcriptionist and sing on the praise team at our church.

ns and one granddaughter -- one is in California and two in Minnesota. My eldest daughter is married, in California. My next daughter is married in Minnesota, daughter #3 is in College here in East Tennessee, and I'm homeschooling the two kids who are still at home.
My dream for retirement is to move to East Africa to teach. If I can't do that, then I want to make my back yard into an incredible garden with lots of little nooks and crannies, each with their own personality. I would take down the fence and allow the community to enjoy my gardens. Sometimes people would find tea and cookies on a table in one of the gardens. When they look at the house, they might see a curtain move slightly and wonder about the mysterious old lady who lives in the yellow and brick house with the fantastic gardens. :-)
